Auto Accident Do's & Don'ts
- Do:
- Call the police
- Immediately seek medical attention
- Log the symptoms of your injuries
- Gather as much information about the accident as possible
- Take pictures of the scene of the accident, property damage, and your injuries
- Don't:
- Admit fault
- Speak to an insurance adjuster
- Accept a check from an insurance adjuster without consulting an attorney
- Sign anything from an insurance company without first consulting an attorney
- Other things to know:
- In vehicle accidents, injured drivers, pedestrians, bicyclists and passengers all have potential cases
- Florida is what is known as a comparative-fault state. What this means is that if you slightly contributed to the accident, you could potentially still have a case against the party primarily at fault.
- Certain situations can have more than one at-fault party. In these instances, more than one case may be involved, Florida is a comparative fault sate so you still may be able to recover monetary damages.
